Our Begnning

Establishment of Comfort Canines for Christ was prompted by the Board of Directors’ prior participation with Canine Companions for Independence (now Canine Companions).  They use people from around the country who volunteer to puppy raise their dogs from 8 weeks to 16-18 months training them on basic commands needed for their advance training to be a service dog. The founding officers of Comfort Canines for Christ received training and instruction by certified dog trainers in canine training & handling techniques which equipped them them for training their comfort dogs.

In January 2015 Comfort Canines For Christ searched for and located a suitable female Yellow Lab and Golden Retriever mix dog, Eve, and Comfort Canines for Christ had its start. After extensive medical treatment as well as training, Eve began comfort dog service in July 2015.

Our second dog was a Canine Companion dog, Winona. See Winona story in the Canine Ambassador page.
