Doctrinal Statement

God, the Bible, Satan, and Sin:

Comfort Canines for Christ is committed to faithfully upholding the revealed truths of the sixty-six books comprising the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible.  In that spirit, Comfort Canines for Christ submits the following summary statement of the essential teachings of Scripture and the Christian Faith.

The Holy Bible has absolute authority because it is verbal plenary inspired.  Each word was given by God as the Holy Spirit guided the authors to write exactly all He sought to express. (2 Timothy 3:16) The Holy Bible, the Word of God, is infallible in the original writings and wholly trustworthy and therefore the supreme, unmediated, and final authority of faith and practice for every believer.

The God of Abraham, Yahweh, is the one and only eternal God and the Creator of all the universe.  He exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God who God sent to earth becoming flesh through birth by a virgin to reveal God to humanity.  Christ lived a sinless life in complete obedience to the Father and thusly became the Savior and the only Savior of the lost world. Man was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) to have fellowship with God, but man became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. (Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-11) Man is incapable of regaining a harmonious relationship with God through his own effort.  The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for forgiveness and final atonement of sin and the only means by which man becomes justified and therefore worthy to renew a relationship with God. (Hebrews 9:22)

God freely offered salvation to those who place their faith and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That is: His death on the cross which is the exclusive sufficient payment for sin (Hebrews 9:22) and His resurrection from the grave which restored the spiritual eternal life of man that was lost (Romans 5:12) when sin entered the world in the Garden of Eden when Adam sinned. By obedient compliance to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

The church is the body of Christ, (Colossians 1:18) of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ – His death on the cross and His resurrection from the grave. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and making Him known to the ends of the four corners of the earth.

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is SOLELY AND TOTALLY SUFFICIENT for forgiveness of sin and providing eternal life.  Any and all other traditions, sacraments, and customs are irrelevant for and of no consequence to being granted salvation.  Belief AND faith in Jesus Christ's sacrificial death and resurrection is the ONE and ONLY means to salvation.

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.

No one comes to the Father except through me.

NOTE:

Belief in Christ's existence is NOT salvation.

Even Satan himself confesses Christ's existence.

Belief AND faith are the essential elements to salvation.

Satan is the originator of sin:

Satan said in his heart, “I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” (Isaiah 14:13-14)

Satan led Adam and Eve and all humans henceforth into transgression. (Genesis 3:1-11) Satan is a usurper in that he illegitimately seized and holds power over the earth by force and without legal right. He is the enemy of God and God’s people as he exalts himself above God. In his warfare against God, Satan counterfeits the works of God by establishing and nurturing religious movements and illicit doctrine, which in all cases are characterized by a denial of the efficacy of the blood of Christ and of salvation by grace alone.

Scripture within the Doctrinal Statement

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

Genesis 1:27 “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

Genesis 2:15-17 “Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. 16 The LORD God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”;

Genesis 3:1-11 “Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’” 4 The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! 5 For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

8 They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”

Hebrews 9:22 "And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness."

Romans 5:12 "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned."

Colossians 1:18 “He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.”

How can you receive the free gift of Salvation:

Recognize that:

"All (you) have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"  (Romans 3:23)

"The wages of sin (your sin) is death (your death), but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."  (Romans 6:23)

"Just as through one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned." (Romans 5:12)

"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

"If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." (Romans 10:9-10)

"Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13)

Assurance - You can know that you have eternal life.

"And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life." (1 John 5:11-13)
