Tyson
Tyson is a lovable 5 year old, 20# Shihpoo who instantly responds to people with medical and mobility issues. Sandy said he came into my life almost 5 years ago after my 13 yr old Shihpoo passed away and after about a 3 month grieving period I started looking for another dog to adopt. The previous owner of Tyson, who had her Master’s degree, had to relocate to work on a Doctorate and couldn’t take Tyson!
One of the things about Tyson I saw indicated the special ability of this dog in relationship with humans. My sister had heart bypass surgery about 3 years ago. Tyson and I went to stay and help her for a month when she got out of rehab. Tyson instinctively assumed the position of laying at her feet. When she touched her walker he went and stood behind her and as she slowly took steps forward he moved slowly, almost a paw at a time. When she sat down, Tyson would be at her feet staring at her with his big loving eyes. He repeated this process on the way back to her chair.
Tyson former owner told me two things about him: He has Endless Energy! and second He is a Lapdog! This little bundle of energy loves to run all over chasing birds and squirrels and pushes a plastic buckets down our long paved driveway with his head in it - like riding a boogie board at the beach. In the house he plays with his squeaky toys and howls at the same time and whenever I sit down he is either on my lap or on an ottoman where he can see me and be petted constantly!

I started Tyson in Obedience classes soon after getting him and continued until he got his CGC last year. During that evaluation I asked the group how to get Tyson certified as a Therapy Dog. Kathy (who is a member of Comfort Canines For Christ) had been helping with the evaluation and overheard my question and informed me of ATD and mentioned Comfort Canines For Christ (CC4C). I had heard about CC4C years earlier on the radio and had never followed up, but knew this was a group that I wanted to be a part of now to not only share my dog with others, but also the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So God has been in all of this from the beginning. I call it “Connecting the Dots” and His timing is always perfect!
