The K-9 Therapy team of Bella, Kathy and to a lesser extent Kevin, grew steadily for two years. While Kathy felt that Bella needed a playmate and four legged companion, Kevin was not convinced, not wanting to spoil a great thing. While Kathy was determined another Standard Poodle, (especially a red one!) would be a perfect addition to the family, Kevin continued to balk. That’s when God stepped in.
In the early summer of 2022, our church secretary called and advised that another widowed and retired parishioner had just recently acquired a puppy and was finding it just too much to handle. “If Kathy would be willing to do with this pup what she did with Bella, she can have her for free”. A 12 week old female puppy. A 12 week old female Standard Poodle puppy. A 12 week old RED Standard Poodle puppy. Oh my, saying no was not an option. ​
Ruby joined the Graham family in June of 2022 and hit the ground running — literally. Full of energy and a limitless amount of enthusiasm, she was consumed with wanting to make her trainers and her step sister, Bella proud. Advancing in all levels of training at an accelerated rate she soon became a vital part of the Graham Therapy team ministry, ramping up Kevin’s involvement along the way. At first wanting to do everything like her big sister, she soon became more competitive and wanted to outdo her pseudo sibling. To say they compliment, love and cooperate with each other is an understatement. Though at the time of this bio Ruby has not yet turned 3, her “puppyness” mostly is in the rear view mirror. Overflowing with love, an eagerness to please and a heart of gold are her strong suits. God is indeed Good and He provides us all we need and want, even when we don’t know it.
Oh, and Ruby is the epitome of CUTE!
