Canine Ambassador
Briar Rose

Hurricane Milton visited the Suncoast of Florida in October 2024, and some dear friends of ours were evacuated from their home. They are a family of five and, at the time, had three large sheepadoodles. We had the space to accommodate them, and so we welcomed them all. Although having already declared many times to our family that we would never, ever have a dog, Jenni was not particularly excited about these furry hurricane visitors.

Briar Rose was the offspring of the two other dogs. Just seven months old at the time of the hurricane, Briar was the only dog of the litter who had not found a forever home. The family had decided to keep her, but it was clear that three large and energetic dogs were a bit overwhelming for them.

During the hurricane, Jenni's heart was immediately warmed when she saw how much her husband and children loved Briar Rose and how

wonderful Briar was with them. No one was more surprised than Jenni when she offered to adopt Briar. It was the perfect solution. Briar's original family would be able to stay in her life, and Jenn's family would be blessed with the joy that Briar Rose brings.

Being novice dog owners, Jenni and her husband, Matthew, enrolled Briar Rose in obedience classes right away. She excelled, and they soon learned that Briar loves people and other animals. The trainer told Jenni that Briar Rose would make an excellent therapy dog.

Briar and Jenni began observing other Canine Ambassadors and knew instantly that Briar Rose's sweet disposition and willingness to learn would make her an ideal Ambassador herself. Jenni and Briar are looking forward to bringing comfort and joy to many children and people with special needs.
