Canine Ambassador
Catcher

Catcher a Chesapeake Bay Retriever was born in Hartsel Colorado to a breeder who has been breading chassis since 1978. She is 95 pounds and has a sweet temperament.

Catcher was sold to a young military guy and raised her in Green Mesa Colorado. His military commitment sent him on assignments overseas and the puppy whom he named Just Puppy was left with his girlfriend on a small farm, in a dirt kennel run, in all types of weather.

Living on a farm, Just Puppy grew up around donkeys, horses and chickens and would escape her enclosure to go visit them. She became depressed and would either jump out the enclosure or dig herself out. In addition to the depression, Just Puppy was losing weight, getting very skinny and animal control started to write tickets on her. The girlfriend convinced her boyfriend to return Just Puppy to the breeder when she was about 2 years old. The breeder quickly took her back.

The breeder took her to a service dog training in Baily, CO who evaluated her and said this dog was worth keeping to train as she loved people and was willing, sweet and a quick learner. The trainer took care of all her shots and health test that were needed as well as formally naming her Catcher. The trainer leash trained her and let her meet people and other dogs. Catcher passed all temperament test with ease.

Catcher was bred before being sent to a trainer in Beulah where Pam, her current owner, met her and fell in love with her. She trained for six weeks successfully passing and receiving the Canine Good Citizen recognition and passing the Trick Dog Novice test.

Catcher was sent back to the trainer in Baily to deliver and raise her litter of six puppies (4 girls and 2 boys). She raised them well, a very loving affectionate momma dog. Pam bought her as soon as she had weaned her puppies. She arranged to start her in assistance work, therapy work and possible showing. She is currently in training for mobility and other assistance work.
